This is to tell you from the onset, that I am a bhakt. Personally, I hate the terminology as it pits me as a saffron-tinged rustic Hindu hooligan, but for taxonomic purposes, you can classify me as Moditus Admirus, known otherwise as Bhakt. So now that you have already wrinkled your nose and would be reading everything that follows, or not at all, with a pinch of salt, let me begin…
You are hurting me, big time. I might be inclined towards a particular political party, but I believe, I am foremost, an Indian. And as an Indian, I choose not to provide devious arsenal to a country which hates the very idea of our existence. Some sections of media (‘Sanctimonious Indian Express’ being the top contender) chose to hate Modi more than love the nation which figures in its masthead. Granted that one must approach a story from both the angles in the eternal pursuance of truth, but one mustn’t get carried away by the anti-establishment stand so much, that it demeans our Coastal Guards who are sworn to protect our country and provide a high moral ground to a nation that off-loads its toxic produce by the minute, exporting terrorists and jihad to our country with thorough impunity.
By all means, ridicule our Prime Minister for his sartorial choice. It was complete narcissism, as you rightly pointed out. And the Prime Minister got the message. Now on, he would try to tone down his dressing. You came out all guns blazing against the government’s stand on Communalism, having already launched a preemptive strike against the off-shoots of this political party, which possess a tendency to polarize people on religious lines. Sometimes you saw ghosts when there were none, but then that’s allowed. You chose the right battle. The Prime Minister recently said that he won’t allow any fringe element to hurt the nation. You have every right (and even responsibility) to take this message with a pinch of salt. Because, while we just fawn over and praise mighty Modi (incorrigible Gujjus, that we are), you are the guys who keep him in check.
But we take deep offence, the day, you become Anti-India. This is a plea to not just all the media-outlets which are forever set against this government, but to Indian National Congress as well, don’t let your hate for Modi affect your state of mind so much that any positive step that this government takes to root out corruption or defend the nation, be affected by concocted hearsay and rumors, that it provides loaded arsenal to the nations which are Anti-India. India is not Lanka, so try not to be Vibhishan.
Pick battles by all means. But not the ones which defeat the very nation in whose name, the battles are picked for.
Yours Sincerely,
Vismay Harani,
Pro-BJP
