Alienman: the Anthem!

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

A nuke fries up my insides,

Forming a passive layer of oxide,

Protecting my heart against the rancid, dank and corrosive air,

Breathed by a thousand ugly aliens with their venomous stare.

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

My fingers tried to grip the gravel,

As the saint inside me crawled out from the navel.

Was it just yesterday?

That I leashed the hound in me that wanted to bay.

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

They said –

Humans squirm.

Humans fart.

Humans sweat.

Humans cry.

Human’s weak.

Human’s fickle.

Human’s dirty.

Human’s a stupid biped.

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

The crowd grows restive.

They want this bout to end.

And they want Krampla to lop off my head,

Dip it in formalin, stuff my mouth,

Puncture my eye balls,

Tear out my lips so they jut out,

And keep it as trophy for them to ogle.

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

Splayed down in a position (mistaken) to conceive,

Battered by that Battering Ram Krampla.

An alien of massive girth yet agile,

He waits for me to stand so that he could crush my body fragile.

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

Alone. Aghast. I have come so far.

The native of my atom hated me,

They shunned me, calling me a mutant,

That’s why I started out as a delinquent.

Oh cruel fate! Today, I represent them!

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

My legs find firm footing.

I stand up.

I scan the audience.

Not one kind heart amongst them.

I massage my cramped up neck.

The announcer shouts gibberish.

The crowd roars.

Konti Krampla flexes his tentacles.

And gives me a smug smile.

I close my eyes.

And listen to the music inside my head.

The hairs stand up on their tip.

I taste salt and grime in my mouth.

And smell the stink that is my body.

This is it.

Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

 Blood! Blood! Blood! Blood!

I circle him. He circles me back.

I gauge him. He gauges me back.

What does he sense in me?

Fear.

But then, I am a good actor.

What do I sense in him?

Complacency.

And impatience.

Out shoots his tentacle, I deflect.

Another one shoots out, I block that too.

He mutters an expletive.

I smirk.

He sees it, twitches.

He waits.

I wait too.

No rushing towards imminent death.

I bid my time.

Then suddenly, he roars.

And rushes his 400 pound worth body at me.

I pull out at the last moment,

That’s what the action movies taught me.

And kick his three-buttocked ass to the ground.

Breathe in! Breathe out! Breathe in! Breathe out!

Breathe in! Breathe out! Breathe in! Breathe out!

The crowd gives a collective gasp,

Then splutters to silence.

I flick out my knife.

I see my face reflecting from its metallic sheen,

And glimpse the devil dancing inside my eyes.

Don’t worry, I won’t horrify you,

Or shock you with grotesque details (in H.D.) of my carnage.

I will bowdlerize it all, and say just this,

I didn’t kill him, inspite of me.

I did no permanent damage, inspite of me.

But I did draw blood,

Oh boy! Copious blood…

Alienman! Alienman! Alienman! Alienman!

Alienman! Alienman! Alienman! Alienman!

They now say,

Humans win.

Humans jeer.

Humans fight.

Humans dig a knife up your back so fast.

Human’s sly.

Human’s strong.

Human’s  devious.

And they can f**k you up real bad!

Alienman! Alienman! Alienman! Alienman!

Alienman! Alienman! Alienman! Alienman!

Do the aliens hate you still?

With all their heart.

Wanna go back?

Anywhere but Earth.

Aren’t you afraid,

That they might just retaliate?

I didn’t travel so far and wide,

Just to pee in my pants at every alien grouse and snide.

What about your life before all this?

Dead. Full stop.

Now I fight for their pleasure,

Inspite of the pain they would inflict on me.

I maybe ‘Alien’ in their eyes,

Curse Xenophobia!

But today I earned their respect as a ‘Man’!

From now on I am Alienman!!!

The announcer shouts gibberish.

The crowd roars.

I flex my muscles.

And give them a smug smile.

I close my eyes.

And listen to the music outside my head.

The hairs stand up on their tip.

I taste salt and grime in my mouth.

And smell the stink that is my body.

This is it.

My name is all I hear.

Alienman! Alienman! Alienman! Alienman!
