I normally surf Television. In the process, I come across some remarkable shows which get me hooked (Ben10, Chhota Bheem, Roll No. 21!), or some really nice afternoon or after midnight flicks. I saw Poseidon on UTV Action this afternoon.
I must say it ain’t no Titanic, but the action-sequences are pretty good. A Tsunami strikes the ship; it is overturned and is on the verge of sinking. Just as a balloon filled with air does not drown in water, in a similar manner the ship is held precariously for some time, enough for a bunch of guys to try stupid but courageous escapade. It is a gripping movie, no doubt about that but it is mostly stereotypical. Most of the people are dead. 7-8 people attempt the nearly impossible escape, at each twist one of them dies, the young boy, though he somehow looks like Darsheel Safary, has a tendency to get lost at each junction. The old man who wanted to commit suicide, kicks another to death in order to save his ass. This movie tries hard to get an emotional connect with the audience, but it mostly fails in the attempt.
Only watch it if you have nothing else to do.
