Business Leaders & Success

I recently read the ‘Business Leaders & Success’- it was actually a compilation of the IBD’s popular ‘Leaders & Success’ section of Investor’s Business Daily wherein they give a short biography cum inspirational article about some of the greatest go-getters ofAmerica.

I don’t normally deviate from course and mostly stay focused on Crazy Fiction where monsters lurk behind bushes and underneath murky waters, where Earth is busted by Laser-toting Aliens, where every new gizmo may spell doom for humanity and where wizards won’t keep their wand in their back-pockets as their asses may catch fire. But sometimes, as I try to eke out my life as a struggling, not-at-all-read writer- I feel that I too need an inspiration to keep going.

This book was enough to make me feel charged up. It covers the guys from Nike, Disney, Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, Boeing, Nokia, Coca-Cola, Dell, eBay, IBM, Cisco, Xerox, Intel- in short the bigwigs of American Enterprise. Short, succinct and easy to understand- this book covers in all 55 stories of the American Guys who made it outrageously big. And of course, unlike fiction, you aren’t hell bent to complete it in one sit. (My legs get cramped up in the process, as I mostly read my books in the toilet!)

Readers of the Investor’s Business Daily- the magazine out of which these articles are taken have recommended this book for kids, who at this stage are impressionable. Well, I think of myself as a kid, and so I would of course recommend it to you. Though, I don’t think very young kids can understand some stuff in this book (though kids today are remarkably intelligent!), I must say you should give it a shot.

This isn’t any self-help book, if it were I wouldn’t be recommending it. The guys in these pages have actually succeeded in doing it in the manner they did. But some of the stuff maybe outdated as AOL (covered in one of the article) is fairly beaten up by Facebook, Google and Yahoo.

Overall, it’s a good book, though you may have some difficulty in finding it- my father came across it in Second-Hand Book store. You may of course buy it online…
