“You won’t achieve your objective by killing me.” Ramesh said calmly.
The man leapt out from behind the sofa, and sends the poisonous dart flying at his face. Ramesh ducked himself; a second earlier, it grazed passed his hairs on to the wall, where it left an imprint of red stains. Before the culturist could proceed, Ramesh shot out a thing resembling a pencil stand, throwing it directly at the attacker’s hand. Before the weapon touched the ground, Ramesh punched him directly in his stomach. The man doubled back and fell hard on the rough floor.
“Take him away.” He ordered the other two burly looking robots, to do as said.
One of them yanked the man up by the strands of his hairs, while the other tied his hands by pouring on them the fibrous gum, which solidified in an instant.
“Now you won’t be able to fling any more poison darts, your hands are so gummed that you won’t be able to release your hands. You would have to cut your hands to get free.”
The man tried to wriggle free from the iron-tight grasp of the two impassive looking robots.
“Behave soberly, and then we would release you from the fibrous-chains by using one of the highly effective welding machines, which can cut through the sticky strands.”
“Do you think that I care what you do with me?”
“I know you are a brave one, but also super stupid. There is no other option available.”
“Those guys would rather prefer to die than leave their habitat.”
“But they would be inordinately and irrevocably destroyed, if they do not.”
“Let them die in their natural climate. Let them live for the last few hours knowing well that their earth which had provided with food, shelter and clothes would now be destroyed. They don’t want to leave.”
“See I don’t have time for this idle banter. You may have strangely romantic notion of earth having ethereal beauty. But I don’t give a dang to it. There are two species of social workers, one that cares for human lives and other that care for human values. Now the one which forms the majority care for the first. Sorry that you guys happen to be minority. I don’t consider either of them. I just follow my boss’s order, who himself has to follow what the world’s government deems fit. So I go out there risking my life as well as that of my other fifteen crew members so as to save those 250 adamant tribals from getting their asses burnt by the heat of sun’s impact in those last few moments. Even if I had died those 15 men would have continued on their task, considering it as their duty.”
The two robots then began walking out of room, carrying the culturist out of the room to the waiting craft which was bound to travel some fifty five light years to their destination, through a warp hole.
He looked with trepidation at the fallen robot. The dart was solidly planted at the base of its metallic neck, sparks oozing out from that place, instead of blood. So these tribals would have that sort of weapon, which will make both humans and robots ineffective. But time marches on. It won’t stop for them. The culturist had just wasted their precious little time that they had. He felt that he should have given him third degree to find out what sorts of attack they would have planned for them when they arrived at their homeland. His priority was safety of men, which included those tribals as well as his own soldier. Of course he would be later reprimanded for the act, but he felt that the culturist deserved it. You don’t destroy a costly war combat robot that was expert in all type of modern warfare. The programmers have meticulously arranged hundreds of millions of programs, so as to counter every eventuality and every sort of opponent. They could fight every sort of fight very very rustic and ancient karate to the ultra-modern radio-fight. But this slinger was not kept in mind. They did not anticipate him. He grimaced; they would meet many more such things in the forest which the programmers and he himself would not have anticipated. He patted on the dead robot’s forehead; he would be taken away for his repair, if they survived the wrath of sun, which he doubted very much.

“So my dear brave men our task is to convince, if not possible capture those tribals, and take them to the maximum safety of the shuttle. The forest may present brutal creatures which we have never seen before; it will dense with all type of tropical trees, of which an artifact can be found in the Caveman’s museum. Don’t be overwhelmed by it, I repeat don’t be overwhelmed by it. No rovers can pass through them, as we don’t have paved magnetized roads. As you know that nearly entire population of human kind has evacuated the earth very long time. Only some chose to reside here. We could not manage to cull them at those times, as there was not much treat at that time, and the social workers were vehemently favored in their stupid ideas by the general public. So at a magnanimous cost we have created artificial atmosphere so as to support the natural diversity of plants and animals here, as you know the rest of the earth is sterile, of atmosphere or life, due to the sun which will gulp down this planet in some few hours time. These tribals do not believe that we may be quite capable of creating similar climate where they breathe in excessive oxygen naturally from the trees. But they oppose us, telling that they would miss wild animals and some particular species of trees, but it cannot be helped. So we will be allowed under the special circumstances to use force against them, if it comes to that. But let it be reminded that you have come here to take them to safety and not kill them.”
Every of his soldiers showed extreme concentration to what he was telling them. Vismay mused that major had indeed agreed to give his best soldiers which were promised.
“So” he continued “the robots would form a tight circle around us, so that they could ward us from any danger in the forest. Helper robots would follow us, so as to replace the initial robots in case of a skirmish. Your guns will allow you to numb their minds and not control them. Under no circumstance will you be allowed to control their minds, it is extremely dangerous, and it will cost me my job. So I will see that whosoever does that will be excessively punished. Is it understood?”
“Yes sir.” They said with perfect unison.
“So let’s get done with it.”
